Quick answers

Author questions

How much do I earn from a book sale?

For a qualifying paid sale, the current signed Avelrow agreement pays the author 70% of Net Receipts and Avelrow keeps 30%. Net Receipts means the money Avelrow actually keeps from that sale after permitted transaction costs. For an ebook, that is normally the payment amount after payment-processing costs. For print, the actual printing and order fulfilment cost is also deducted before the 70/30 split is calculated.

When do I get paid?

Royalties normally sit in your Author Central account for 60 days before they become ready for payout. This gives time for normal refunds, payment reversals and processing issues to appear. After an earning reaches 60 days, Avelrow checks payout eligibility every day. If your Stripe payout account is ready and your matured balance has reached the minimum payout amount, the transfer is sent automatically. Smaller balances simply roll forward until they reach the minimum.

Does 60 days mean the money can never be disputed?

No. Sixty days is Avelrow’s normal maturity window, but card disputes can sometimes happen later. If a sale is refunded, reversed or successfully disputed, the matching royalty can be adjusted. If it has not been paid yet, the adjustment reduces the unpaid balance. If it happens after payout, the adjustment may be carried forward against future royalties.

How do Readers+ royalties work?

Avelrow places 40% of Net Receipts from Readers+ memberships into the Author Royalty Pool. That pool is shared among eligible participating authors using qualified chapter reads for the accounting period. The Author Central Earnings page shows your recorded pool allocations when they are calculated.

How do print royalties work?

The reader pays the retail price. Avelrow first works out the money actually retained after payment-processing costs and the real print, manufacturing, fulfilment and order-specific shipping costs. Your 70% royalty is then calculated from the remaining Net Receipts. The Author Central royalty calculator can estimate this before publication, while the final ledger uses the verified real costs from the transaction.

What do I need before automatic payouts can work?

Your Author Central account must be approved and your Stripe Connect payout setup must be complete. Stripe securely holds the banking and identity information used for payouts; Avelrow does not store your bank details. If Stripe says your payout account needs attention, royalties continue to stay in your Avelrow ledger until payout is available again.

ISBNs

If you already own an ISBN, enter that exact number for the matching edition. A real ISBN identifies the edition beyond Avelrow; it is not a private site-only code. If you only need an internal Avelrow identifier, use the Avelrow Catalogue ID instead.

Cover file

For an ebook, upload the final approved front cover. For paperback, you can use your front-cover PNG or JPG and let Avelrow build the wrap, add an optional background or spine image, or upload your own finished full-wrap PDF.

EPUB file

Upload the final reader-ready EPUB for an ebook edition. This is the digital book file used for reading and distribution preparation. A paperback-only or hardcover-only draft does not need an EPUB.

Book description

Use reader-facing sales copy, not production notes. Keep the opening strong, make the genre clear, and avoid retailer-specific wording that could become outdated.

Pricing and Readers+

Direct sale means a reader purchases a permanent copy through Avelrow. Readers+ means eligible subscribers can read the title while their membership is active. You can choose one or both where permitted.

Human review

Uploading does not automatically publish the book. Avelrow checks the edition, files and metadata before approval. If changes are needed, the title returns to you with a note.

The short version on payments

Earn → wait 60 days → become payout-ready.

Avelrow records the royalty when the qualifying earning is created. After 60 days, it can enter the automatic payout process. Refunds, reversals or disputes can still create adjustments, and your signed Publishing Agreement controls if any help-page wording ever conflicts with it.
