The tribunal clerk called Cora Whelan’s name while her youngest son was still wearing his county jersey inside out. That was how the morning announced itself: not with thunder, not with a clean dramatic bell, but with a woman trying to turn a child’s shirt the right way round in a public waiting area while three solicitors, two club officials, one radio producer and half of north Dublin pretended they were not watching.
